if you live in portland...

you just missed a tight show at the fontanelle gallery! the show was called "queer gaze," and featured images of queer people by queer photographers. it closed on nov.28th but i thought the concept behind the show was interesting and worth recognizing.

i'm really feeling this lorenzo triburgo portrait, "jazz," -- one of the many portraits featured in the group show. triburgo photographed the subjects against oil-painted backgrounds, "to evoke a 'classic' portrait, recalling both renaissance portraiture and popular photography." The concept channels a little Catherine Opie and is one of many interesting images from the series "transportraits," that you can check out on triburgo's website.
